# Breeze — Full Reference

## What Breeze Does

Breeze is a Shenzhen engineering services firm. We do not sell hardware. We sell engineering: NRE (non-recurring engineering) plus per-unit fees. Our typical engagement covers BOM cost optimization, design-for-manufacturing review, prototype runs, factory selection, and certification navigation (FCC, CE, UKCA, RCM, CCC).

We work with founders building AI-enabled wearables, sensors, edge devices, and consumer hardware. Our minimum production volume is 1K — far below typical contract manufacturers' 10K+ MOQ.

## Why we publish open tools

Most engineering services firms hide their numbers. We publish our 1K-volume BOM pricing, our NRE estimates, our DFM checklists, and our certification matrices as open-source data on GitHub (MIT licensed). The four tools at /tools/* are powered by the same data, served as interactive calculators. Founders can audit our numbers before they ever talk to us. If our pricing is wrong, the GitHub repo will show it.

## Tools — detailed

### BOM Cost Estimator (/tools/bom-estimator)

Computes 1K-volume bill-of-materials cost for AI-hardware designs. Coverage:
- **MCUs / SoCs**: ESP32-S3 (Espressif), RV1103, RK3562, RK3588S (Rockchip), Genio 350/700 (MediaTek)
- **Sensors**: IMU, microphone arrays, ToF, camera modules
- **Power**: PMIC, battery management, USB-C PD
- **Memory**: SPI flash, eMMC, LPDDR4
- **Wireless**: BLE, Wi-Fi 6, LoRa, cellular modules

Outputs low/mid/high BOM tiers plus volume scaling. Email submission triggers a PDF report.

### NRE Simulator (/tools/nre-simulator)

Estimates non-recurring engineering cost for a first production run. Categories:
- Industrial design + mechanical engineering
- PCB schematic + layout (rev cycles)
- Firmware development
- Tooling (injection molds, jigs, fixtures)
- Certifications (FCC, CE, etc. — standards selectable)
- Engineering prototypes
- Pilot production setup

Outputs a phased timeline with month-by-month cost. Email submission triggers a PDF report.

### DFM Checklist (/tools/dfm-checklist)

Design-for-manufacturing review across categories:
- Thermal management
- RF / antenna integration
- PCB layout (DFA, panelization, test points)
- Mechanical (tolerance stacks, snap-fits, draft angles)
- Certification readiness (radio, EMC, safety)
- Supply chain risk (single-source components, lifecycle)

Each item rated pass / fail / not-applicable. Surfaces the common first-product failures founders hit late.

### Cert Navigator (/tools/cert-navigator)

Selects required certifications by target market and device features:
- **Markets**: US (FCC), EU (CE/RED/EMC/RoHS), UK (UKCA), AU (RCM), CN (CCC + SRRC + CMIIT)
- **Features**: BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, battery type, mains-powered, pacemaker-adjacent, child-targeted

Outputs typical cost range, lead time, and which lab to use.

## Engagement model

- **NRE quote** — fixed quote before any work starts. No hourly. No surprises.
- **Per-unit fee** — added to BOM. Discloses our margin transparently.
- **NDA + IP assignment** — standard on every engagement. Designs stay yours.
- **1K MOQ minimum** — far below industry norm (10K+).
- **No equity ever** — we work for fees, not founder equity.

## What Breeze does NOT do

- Take equity for engineering work.
- Build with 10K+ MOQ minimums.
- Hide BOM costs behind NDAs (our data is public).
- Recommend certification labs we have undisclosed kickback arrangements with.
- White-label other firms' work.
